Children today miss out on the “downtime” so prevalent in the past – Where they might have picked up a book, now screens fill their time. The result is that children who don’t read for pleasure have decreased concentration, memory, confidence, lower self-esteem and general knowledge. Reading builds empathy, improves imagination and language development. Help preserve the art of reading for pleasure… because reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s success academically more than social background or parents’ education.
Less Screen Time,
More Storybook Time.
How it works
JOE lil’brary is an invitation to share the joy of reading with children. Kids can simply reach in and take what interests them; when they are done, they can return them to the lil’brary. If anyone has a book or two that they think other children in the class/group would enjoy, they can just pop it into the lil’brary located at their crèche, daycare, nursery school, pre-primary school, primary school or a children’s non-profit organisation.
